Happy 20th Anniversary, Club Intrawest!

May 20, 2014

Since opening its first location in Whistler, British Columbia in 1994, Club Intrawest has grown to include nine properties across Canada, the United States and Mexico. As North America's premier boutique vacation club, its focus has always been on Member satisfaction.

"There are a lot of milestones in a company's evolution," says Trevor Bruno, President, Intrawest Resort Club Group. "However, commemorating our 20th Anniversary seems especially significant. Through economic highs and lows, our steady pace of growth and expansion with a laser focus on Member satisfaction has allowed us to thrive as a company, but more importantly continue to live our mission statement year after year: we help Members create the best vacations of their lives."

To celebrate the Club's 20th anniversary, all of the locations hosted special Member events on May 1, including cake, champagne and hors d'oeuvres. However, the most significant milestone commemorating the Club's anniversary has to be the opening of its ninth location in Ucluelet, British Columbia. Located on the west coast of Vancouver Island, the property boasts 1- and 2-Bedroom Vacation Homes – all with water views.

"Our newest Club location in Ucluelet follows our established model of picking unique, off-the-beaten-path locales and creating vacation experiences that are true to the destination's spirit and heritage, while offering a high level of service and amenities common across our network of locations," says Bruno. "Ucluelet is the perfect complement to our other British Columbia resorts in Vancouver and Whistler. Our Members can now enjoy world-class skiing, cosmopolitan urban attractions and west coast storm watching – all in one trip!"

Healthy Recipes Packed with Goodness

Wednesday December 4, 2013

Wellness professionals, Kate Hutcheson and Joanna Verweel, share some of their favorite recipes (give them a try the next time you're at the Club). For more healthy eating tips, find the full article here.

Chia Seed (Grain-free) Porridge

Kate's easy, go-to breakfast in the morning keeps you full and energized for a day of exploring.

  • 3 tablespoons of chia seeds
  • handful of raw nuts/seeds of your choice (walnuts and pumpkin seeds are good)
  • 1/2 cup of shredded coconut (unsweetened)
  • 1 packet of stevia or a touch of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of cacao powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 scoop of protein powder (optional)

Add roughly 1/2 cup of hot water, stir the mixture and let sit for a few minutes before eating.

Quinoa Salad

This is an easy family friendly recipe that is fast, healthy and affordable. Joanna often travels with quinoa if she knows she won't find it at her destination.

  • 1 cup dry quinoa
  • 1 large sweet potato, cubed
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 avocado, cubed
  • 1/2 cup crumbled goat cheese
  • Freshly ground pepper to taste

1. Preheat the oven to 400 F. Combine the sweet potatoes, olive oil, sage and garlic in a medium bowl and toss well. Place in the oven and let roast for 30 minutes. Make sure to toss them every 10 minutes so they don't burn on one side.

2. Cook the quinoa according to the package instructions (it usually takes 15 minutes).

3. Combine quinoa with the roasted sweet potatoes, avocado pieces and crumbled goat cheese. Serve while the quinoa is still warm.

Kate's Powerhouse Smoothie
  • 2 large handfulls of organic spinach (I sometimes throw in some kale too!)
  • 1/2 cup of almond milk (organic unsweetened)
  • 1 big scoop of protein powder (I use sun warrior chocolate flavour -- it's a hemp seed vegan protein)
  • 1/2 cup of frozen organic blueberries
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 avocado, cubed
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of maca root powder
  • 1 teaspoon of chlorella (or spirulina)
  • 4-5 ice cubes
  • water (if needed to thin out smoothie)
  • top with cacao nibs for a little crunch

Blend and enjoy!

Joanna's Post-Workout Smoothie
  • 1 frozen bananas
  • 1/2 cup of almond milk
  • 1/2 tablespoon pure maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/8 cup natural peanut butter
  • pinch of sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 ice cubes

Blend and enjoy!
